Project Overview
I will be working for the National Park Service as an Wilderness Ranger with interpretive duties from May 2017 until September 2. The National Park Service represents the best aspects of outdoor engagement. The Service facilitates safe, sensible use of the great outdoors and engages the public by offering programs designed to educate and inspire. I will be creating and presenting 10-50 minute long programs that vary between lectures, guided hikes, and informal presentations. These presentations must accommodate groups of people ranging from 1-50 persons and ages varying from children to seniors. The programs purpose is to help foster an emotional connection with the surrounding environment which should then lead to a desire to. This will help me perfect my skills of interpretation and will allow me to become a better advocate for outdoor recreation. I will also be creating and printing reserved permits for backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Some of my other duties as a wilderness ranger are patrolling the trails in the park and making sure everyone is following the rules.
